Befriending Volunteers.

Ecas Befriending Project.ecas_a4_befriender_fin

WE ARE LOOKING FOR, responsible, genuine people to volunteer for a few hours a week befriending physically disabled adults in Edinburgh.

Befreinding is one of the most responsible forms of volunteering but also one of the most rewarding.

Not only do you learn about others, but you can learn about yourself and develop new skills and knowledge which is always a fabulous addition to any CV.

If you have a few hours you could give of your time then you would be provided with training to make sure you had the relevant knowledge and were confident in your role as a befriender. You would also be given ongoing support and a chance to meet fellow befrienders socially.

The Project will have in place stringent policies and procedures to provide a professional, safe service.

The volunteer process includes:

  • an Application form
  • Interview
  • Induction training
  • Disclosure Checks
  • References
  • Signed agreements.

Volunteers will be reimbursed out of pocket expenses in compliance with Ecas volunteers expenses policy.

Befrienders currently on benefits should inform their advisor but in general volunteering with Ecas and reimbursement of expenses will not affect your benefits.

For more information check out current vacancies. Application forms can be downloaded or by contacting the project manger by phone, post or email:
