The criteria for The Grant Fund is physically disabled residents of Edinburgh and the Lothians. Applications are considered where ever possible within 4 weeks and consideration is given to anything not provided by statutory sources. Applications can be fast tracked if the person is in receipt of Income Support, Housing Benefit or Pension Credit and Disability Living Allowance (DLA) care and/or mobility components. Where ever possible Ecas purchases goods & holidays direct from the supplier. The maximum grant considered is normally £500, although consideration will be given to larger grants in some exceptional circumstances. The sponsor is required to sign a statement that the application is an appropriate draw on charity. funds. The application should be for something that will enhance the applicant's life. Recent grants have been for:washing-machines, fridge-freezers, cookers, lap-top, furniture, car adaptations, sheds, holiday and flooring. Funding will not be given for small pieces of domestic equipment. Grants cannot be made retrospectively. Grants to pay routine expenses or debts will not be considered. Any application for funds for maintenance or repair for battery-packs, power-chairs or scooters must be accompanied by evidence of third party insurance.
