We at Ecas try to find innovative ways to represent the interests of disabled people. We try to take this approach in the services we provide, such as our new befriending project and our internationally-recognised computer art classes, and also in our research and campaigning work. This section provides information on some of these key innovations. We welcome ideas - please feel free to get in touch via the website's contact form.

Ecas established during 2008 a new internship scheme for research and campaigning work. Interns will have an opportunity to undertake research into current issues we are examining and to contribute to campaigns work. The flyer advertising the scheme and Ecas' ethical internship guidance are available from the downloads list in the publications section of this website.
We currently have two interns - Victor McCullough, a graduate of Edinburgh Law School, who is working on a disability discrimination law project looking at Scottish public authorities' accountability; and Tirion Seymour, a sociology and politics student who is researching independent living. |

Disability Equality Forum |
|
The Edinburgh Disability Equality Forum has run for a number of years as a City of Edinburgh Council's primary mechanism for consulting with disabled people. We hope to continue to have an opportunity to work closely with the Forum to identify policy areas that need attention and to suggest innovations and changes to policies and procedures that affect the lives of disabled people. Ecas is offering to fund the administration of the Forum so it can continue its work for the next two years. |
